We provide variety, quality, fresh fruits and food on the Kilimanjaro climb with a lot of carbohydrates, food diet for vegans and vegetarians as well as special food for client with food allergy, Halal and Kosher are offered.. As you are trekking for between 6-9 hours a day (before summit day you’ll be burning allot of calories – and as you are at altitude – even more than you would at sea level.

We ensuring that you are well fed, so you’ve enough energy to get to the top. On all of our Kilimanjaro climbs you will be fully supported by a team of chefs, and cooking porters whom will cater for every dietary requirement and you will have 3 hot cooked meals a day, plus a plentiful supply of water and hot drinks.

Every day you will be served different menus whilst on the climb the below is a guideline to what type:

Breakfast

Breakfast is tea, coffee, porridge, sausages, bread, toast, eggs and fruit.
Longer hiking days will a picnic lunch along the route.

Lunch


A typical lunch is cheese, bread, crackers, peanut butter and jam or honey, mustard, potatoes, chips or Chevda, canned fish, fruit, peanuts, cashews, or cookies. On shorter hiking days we will have lunch in camp with hot drinks, soup, cheese, sandwiches, vegetable sticks, and cookies.

Dinner

Dinner is served buffet style inside the mess tent, beginning with soup and bread or crackers, and followed by a main course of rice with stew or curry, or pasta with sauce, cooked vegetables, or salad and potatoes. Desert and hot drinks follow the main course.

Oil

We use olive oil to prepare the food The benefits of olive oil over other vegetable oils are its low levels of saturated fat and high levels of unsaturated fat. Minimizing the intake of saturated fat has been shown to lower cholesterol, and therefore reduce the potential for heart diseases.

Nutritional preparation before an endurance event should be:

Glycogen storage: Storage of carbohydrates in the liver and muscles as glycogen is essential. The glycogen is converted to glucose for energy utilization during the event.

Balanced nutrient intake: Provide your body with the essential nutrients (protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins and minerals) as a prerequisite for optimal performance.

A balanced pre-event meal that ensures stable blood sugar levels for the start of the day and the event.

You may want to bring some supplementary “comfort” foods, such as candy, gum, chocolate, health bars or powdered energy drinks.

We can accommodate vegetarian and vegan diets. For those with special diets, please contact us to discuss what we can or cannot do. Note that food selection is limited in Tanzania, so although we will try to please all clients, in some cases clients will be asked to bring their specific food items to us, which our cooks will prepare feeling of having achieved something truly extraordinary

What Do You Eat During Kilimanjaro Climb?

Eating on top of the Mountain, that too when you are on a high altitude zone is a really challenging task. You may not feel to eat more or the food doesn’t taste good due to the altitude conditions. But, you will need to eat healthy whole food to maintain your physical fitness and continue walking to the top.

Here is a sample of what your meals may look like on the trip.


Day 1

You will wake up at the Park View In Moshi and have breakfast at the hotel. Our goal is to be on the road by 8 am to take the scenic drive to the Londrossi Gate. With stops this usually takes about 3 hours 30 minutes. Once you reach the gate you will be searched a hot lunch.

Lunch: Vegetable Soup, Chicken, Sandwiches, fruit, boiled eggs and salad. This will be served at the Londrossi Gate after you sign into the National Park.

Afternoon Tea: Tea, Coffee, Hot Chocolate or Milo Served with nuts or popcorn

Dinner: Carrot and Coriander Soup, Fresh Fish with Tomato Sauce, Potatoes, Sauteed Green Beans, Avocado Salad, Fresh Fruit, Tea and Coffee.
Day 2

Breakfast: Mango, Porridge Oats with Raisins, Scrambled or Fried Eggs, Beef Sausages and Hash Browns, Brown or White Toast Served with a choice of Honey, Jam, Marmalade, Nutella and Peanut Butter. Tea, Coffee, Hot Chocolate or Milo

Lunch: Vegetable Soup served with White or Brown Bread, Tuna Salad with Boiled Eggs Fresh Fruit, Fruit Juice, Tea, Coffee, Hot Chocolate or Milo

Afternoon Tea: Tea, Coffee, Hot Chocolate or Milo Served with Biscuits and Popcorn

Dinner: Pumpkin Soup served with White or Brown Bread, Spicy Fried Chicken and Chapatti Served with Steamed Rice Zucchini and Vegetable Sauce Pancakes and Honey. Tea, Coffee, Hot Chocolate or Milo


Day 3

Breakfast: Water Melon, Porridge Oats with Raisins, Scrambled or Fried Eggs, Beef Sausages and Baked Beans. Brown or White Toast Served with a choice of Honey, Jam, Marmalade and Peanut Butter. Tea, Coffee, Hot Chocolate or Milo

Lunch: Mushroom Soup served with White or Brown Bread Beef and Vegetable Pie with Salad, Fresh Fruit, Fruit Juice. Tea, Coffee, Hot Chocolate or Milo

Breakfast: Watermelon and oranges, Porridge Oats with Raisins, Scrambled or Fried Eggs, Beef Sausages and Hash Browns, Brown or White Toast served with a choice of Honey, Jam, Marmalade and Peanut Butter. Tea, Coffee, Hot Chocolate or Milo
